Back to School Check up

It’s that time of year again and we hope you all had a great start to the school year. That’s why we wanted to take a moment to send out a little reminder about your dental checkups. It may or may not be surprising to you that one of the most common chronic diseases found among school-age children is cavities. “When people are beginning to do their pediatrician checks to make sure their kids are school-ready, make sure teeth are part of it,” says pediatric dentist and American Dental Association spokesperson Dr. Mary Hayes.

Of course planning ahead is always helpful. Many parents may forget about making the appointment until August which is one of our busiest times of the year. It’s nice to give yourself and us enough time by calling ahead, preferably the previous spring to make sure you are able to get them in before school starts. Of course we are happy to schedule you an appointment at any time.

Encouraging them to have healthy dental habits at home is the best place to start. We encourage you to make brushing and flossing fun for your kids so they will want to do it and it will become part of their routine. You can use a sticker calendar and reward system to help them get motivated.

Hope you find these reminders helpful and hope you have a great year!
